Behind The Wandering Pro

The behind-the-scenes of how this whole thing actually gets run. How I coach builders, run the community, and build Wander Labs in the open, mistakes and all.

Why This Place Exists

You probably already know what The Wandering Pro is. A tribe for makers, builders, freelancers, and anyone trying to figure out a career in tech, mostly from Pakistan, built for the realities of building from here. That part lives on the website, and it holds up.

But there’s one more reason it exists, and it’s more personal.

The Wandering Pro is my after-shadow. The path I actually walked, written down.

It’s a log of the mistakes I made on the way from fixing computers on a repair bench to running my own business. Tech support, then marketing, then project management, then product, then freelancing, then consulting, then building something of my own. I took a lot of wrong turns getting here.

If you read the content, sit in the community, or get help from me directly, the whole point is that you can skip a few of those wrong turns. Lessons earned the hard way, shared the easy way. That has been the mission from day one, and Patreon is where the unpolished version of it lives.

The Path I Actually Walked

The real route from a repair bench to a product business.

2009 – 2014
The Repair Bench

Apple-certified technician fixing machines and troubleshooting software at a Mac repair shop. Hardware, parts, warranty queues, and walk-in customers. Where it all started.

2017 – 2019
Running the Shop

Operations Manager at the same shop: retail, service, imports, and its whole online presence. My first real taste of marketing, process, and managing the work instead of only doing it.

2019 – 2020
Into Project Management

First PM roles with US startups, remote from Pakistan. Coordinating product, design, and delivery, and learning how software actually gets built and shipped.

2020 – 2021
Becoming a Product Manager

Product Manager at a US software agency and beyond. Owning roadmaps and client products end to end, and learning that the right product matters more than just building the product right.

2021
Going Independent

The leap into freelancing. Came into an agency as a Project Manager and quietly turned it into Product Management. Proof that the way you think about a problem travels.

2022 – 2024
Solo Consulting

One of the few solo product managers on Upwork, selling discovery and product thinking, not only delivery. Agencies hired me for projects; I kept selling them product.

2024 – Now
Running a Business

Started my own discovery-led product studio and kept building The Wandering Pro alongside it. Still figuring it out, in public. This page is part of that.

What You’ll Find Here

The rough stuff that doesn’t make the website. The working version of how this gets run.

Behind the Scenes

How I actually run a community: the decisions, the experiments, the things that broke, and the mistakes I’d rather you not repeat. Unfiltered, with the comment section open.

Coaching & Mentorship

How I coach people and run mentorships, the real conversations behind the polish. What I tell builders, what I push back on, and how I think about helping someone level up.

Wander Labs in the Open

How the build-and-ship initiative runs week to week. Scoping calls, hard feedback, what makes a project ship versus stall, and my own Lab built in public.

Kits & Tools

The resources, templates, and toolkits land here first. Resume kits, agency starter packs, PRD designs, and more, with the thinking behind each one.

Systems & Operations

The operating side most people never see: the systems, playbooks, and tooling that keep the community, the content, and the Labs running week to week without it all falling over.

Video, Down the Road

Rougher, more personal content as the page grows. Walkthroughs, recordings, and the kind of thing that works better shown than written. Coming as we go.

Patreon is built for exactly this. The working version of the community, the coaching, and the building, posted as it happens.

Patreon FAQs

What is The Wandering Pro’s Patreon?+
It’s the public, behind-the-scenes home for The Wandering Pro. The website holds the polished work and the Discord holds the community; Patreon is where the rough cut lives: how the community gets run, how Wander Labs works week to week, the kits, and the workflow behind all of it. Think of it as a third home, the one you can follow without living in a server.
Do I need to be on Discord to follow along?+
No. The Discord is the deep, two-way community where you pitch projects and get mentorship. Patreon is the lower-friction option for people who would rather keep up with the content and the behind-the-scenes at their own pace. Follow whichever fits how you want to engage, and plenty of people do both. The Discord door is always open too.
What do you actually post there?+
Behind-the-scenes on running and coaching the community, how Wander Labs is run, the kits and toolkits, and the systems and tooling behind operating the whole thing. Some posts are quick notes, others are full write-ups. Video walkthroughs are on the roadmap as the page grows.
How often do you post?+
The aim is a steady rhythm, a few posts a week, plus milestones as they happen. The one rule that matters here is consistency, so the cadence is built to be sustainable rather than a burst that fizzles out a month later.
Does it cost anything to follow?+
There is no charge to follow or to join the membership today. You join with a click, and that is what unlocks most of the posts. There is nothing to pay for to get started.
Why do I have to join to see most posts?+
Joining the membership is how a real relationship gets tracked, and it keeps the deeper content for people who actually want it rather than handing everything to passers-by. A handful of posts stay fully public so new people can find the page; the rest open up the moment you join.
Are the kits and toolkits on Patreon?+
They are moving there. The resource kits (the resume and cover-letter kit, agency starter pack, PRD design, and more) are migrating onto Patreon, where members can grab them. During the move, some links on the site may still point to the old home while each kit is rebuilt. The full set lives on the Resources page.
Will there be paid tiers or memberships?+
Not right now. The page is about presence and behind-the-scenes, not a paywall. A small paid step might appear much later for specific things like sensitive video, but there is nothing to pay for today, and that is deliberate.
How is Patreon different from the website and the Discord?+
The website is polished and permanent: Arc essays, the Blueprint workshops, resources, and Wander Labs case studies. The Discord is the live community where the real work happens. Patreon is the raw cut, the working version of how it all gets run, posted in the open. Same Pro, three registers.
How do I get started?+
Head to the Patreon page and hit follow, then join the membership to unlock the rest. That is it. If you want the deeper, two-way version, join the Discord as well.
